HEROISM
Bill Heath Memorial Award
Trooper Tracy Brown #431
Trooper Tracy Brown began his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol,
February 1995. On July 25, 2001, Trooper Brown, while working traffic
on Interstate 40 stopped a motor home for weaving on the road. After
visiting with the driver and passenger, Trooper Brown became very
suspicious of the two. He obtained consent to search and discovered an
elobrate compartment built into the floor of the motor home. In that
compartment he found 827 pounds of cocaine, a record for Oklahoma as
the largest cocaine seizure ever made from a traffic stop. In August
2001, one week and one day after the record cocaine seizure, Trooper
Brown stopped a truck on US 54. The driver of the truck did not have
the proper paperwork required for his load. Trooper Brown became
suspicious. He found 2,625 lbs of marijuana concealed in the trailer.
Once again Trooper Brown set another record for Oklahoma, this time
for the largest marijuana seizure from a traffic stop. Following the
conviction of both occupants of the truck, the Assistant U.S. Attorney
wrote praising Trooper Brown for his professionalism.
